7 Family Friendly Summer Destinations

When it comes to taking the whole family abroad for a summer holiday, pleasing everyone can be tricky! And trying to book aspects of the trip yourself – flights, hotel, airport transfers – while budgeting for kids’ holiday activities and daytrips can be stressful. It’s often easier and cheaper to opt for an all-inclusive holiday deal that takes the hassle out of asking for bills and carrying money. If you’re looking for a family-friendly destination this year, here are 7 tried-and-tested family-friendly, all-inclusive destinations that tend to hit the spot:

Canary Islands

There’s something for everyone in the Canary Islands. The south offers beaches, rugged coastlines, watersports and sunny climes. With easy access to inland towns and villages, these islands are the perfect place to enjoy an all-inclusive family holiday. Look to Fuerteventura, it is home to 150 beaches, and is well-equipped for family activities.

Don’t let Ibiza’s ‘clubbing’ reputation put you off visiting this beautiful island. It has the beaches and watersports that the Canaries offer, but it also has a beautiful old town you can explore. Ibiza also has plenty of large family-friendly hotels that are situated right on the shore, which will make it easy to transfer your rabble to the beach in the mornings.

Mexico is an extremely popular family destination that won’t break the bank. A lot of the hotels in Playa del Carmen, , a beautiful and lively city on the Yucatán coast, offer fantastic all-inclusive deals for families. From here you can snorkel or dive in the Caribbean, or explore the incredible Mayan ruins that dot this whole area.

It might not be the first country that springs to mind but this South American oasis is a great location to take your kids. With miles of white beaches, harbours and ports, tropical landscape, a fantastic array of colourful wildlife and a burgeoning hotel and waterpark scene, Panama is a fantastic, fun break for all.

Steeped in history, Turkey is a go-to destination for package holidays. The country is a rich history lesson, having once been the seat of the Byzantine empire, and you can see the ruins of this ancient civilisation all along the Turkish coast. If your kids are too young for site-seeing, the waters of the Mediterranean are warm and inviting, and the all-inclusive hotels in Turkey (especially along the Turquoise coast) are well equipped for entertaining young children.

Generally cheaper than its European neighbours, Portugal is a popular choice for families thanks to its warm Algarve coastline, temperate climate and sandy beaches. But Portugal has more to it than the standard holiday fixtures. Visit Cadiz, one of the oldest settlements in Europe, whose cobbled-stoned streets and medieval buildings look out onto the Atlantic as far as the eye can see. If that’s not enough to entice the kids, then the Aqualand Water Park located in Alcantarilha is sure to.

Quite often, some of the most far-flung, luxurious destinations can still offer you a great bargain. The Caribbean island nation of Barbados is one of those places it would be hard to turn your nose up at. The atmosphere here is welcoming and relaxed, giving the kids plenty to do in the form of exploring the unique marine eco-systems under the water, if you do book all-inclusive, you’ll be able to find clubs that will mind the children, leaving you free to learn about the rum trade that was so prolific in this region of the world, and try the infamous brew yourself.

So if you’re looking to escape the daily grind with your kids this year, look to these places for an all-inclusive option that will ensure that the whole family gets a holiday.
